A TASTE OF PARADISE!
Above is the Famous Divi Divi Tree! As you can see the tree is growing slanted towards the ocean, that is because of the Tradewinds. The winds blow all the clouds that would have produced rain out into the ocean, which is one reason why the island never gets rain and is dry and a desert. The winds were soo strong it was crazy! I will admit I can’t stand wind or anything that gets my hair all crazy and messes up my lipgloss haha 😉 But I still LOVED Aruba!
This was at Governor Beach in Grand Turk!
This is the capital city of Oranjestad! The city was filled with bright colored building and has a lot of Dutch influence throughout! The main four languages they speak in Aruba are Spanish, Dutch, English, Portuguese, and a local language with a mixture of all of them combined called Papiamento.
I just got home from our 10 day vacation to the Caribbean and Miami!! We had SOO much fun we didn’t want to leave, but we also couldn’t wait to go home and see our cat Penelope and little kitten Walter! He got soo much bigger while we were gone, we couldn’t believe it. I was sad to see him not super little anymore, and now don’t want to leave his side until he’s full grown! I guess you can say I’m slightly obsessed with my cats 😉 haha As I was going through all my pictures from our trip today, it made me miss those crystal blue waters and beautiful beaches we saw! Seriously I’ve never seen more beautiful beaches than Aruba, Grand Turk, and the Dominican Republic!!! The water is really warm, looks crystal clear, and is bright turquoise! While we were in Grand Turk, a small island apart of Turks and Caicos, we went to Governor’s Beach. This beach is about a 10 minute walk north from the main beach near the main port/town, but well worth it. I’m so happy we decided to make the trek to this beach because we pretty much had it all to ourselves and the water was even clearer and prettier than down where the crowded beach was. The locals call it Governor’s Beach because the Governor’s house is right on the beach when you walk in! Also, there was an rusted ship that was washed up on shore from Hurricane Sandy- it was pretty cool to see it sitting right on the beach!
A few days later, we got to go to Aruba! I was so excited to go here because I heard so many great things about this island and how beautiful it is! Well, what I heard was true! Aruba was everything they say and more! Right when we got on the island, Alex and I took a taxi to Eagle Beach, which is home to the famous Divi Divi Tree (which is pictured above). It was so pretty situated right there above the scenic, turquoise ocean. I must have taken a million pictures of the tree and standing next to it haha But it is definitely a must-see if you are in Aruba! We relaxed on the beach and rented jet-skis there too! To be honest, I’m am a complete scardey cat when it comes to going fast and any sort of things like jet-skiing, but I decided to just give it a try. My husband went pretty fast for my comfort but it was actually super fun!! I’m so glad we did it! We took the jet-ski out to a spot far from the shore which looked like a sandbar and someone put bright blue food coloring in this one spot! I wish I took a picture to capture the beauty of it! After spending most of the day at the beach, we went to Oranjestad, the island’s capital city. It was cool to see the bright colored buildings, and the different types of shops and food Aruba has to offer! One thing to know about Grand Turk and Aruba, if you are planning on going one day, is that they are both very dry and desert climates. I totally had in my mind they would be lush, tropical and look like a jungle, but they were the total opposite. Regardless, they are still both great islands with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world!!!
I wore this flowy floral dress (I used it as a beach cover-up most of the time) in Aruba and Grand Turk! It is soo perfect for summer and the beach! I love how it isn’t skin tight and the off-shoulder adds a flirty flare to it!
