MY MILKADAMIA PROTEIN SMOOTHIE RECIPE…
I’m dying to share with you guys how I’ve been drinking and using Milkadamia non-dairy milk in my daily life and my regular protein shakes! The shake I make is filled with lots of nutrients, vitamins, and has helped me shed some of my baby weight…
SHOP THE POST:
Since I am lactose intolerant and I am not a big fan of drinking cows milk. It is hard to find a milk substitute that will give me enough calcium, not upset my stomach, actually tastes good, and has lots of vitamins and nutrients. So I decided to find an alternative for my protein shakes! I have tried so many different non-dairy milks such as almond, cashew, and coconut milk. But I could never get over certain things that I did not like about them. Almond milk is usually more of a strong, nutty flavor and coconut milk is always too watery and I don’t like the flavor at all! But the Milkadamia consistency AND flavor are the best I’ve tried! My whole family loves this macadamia milk including my husband Alex!! He is always hesitant and the hardest to get to try “healthy” foods, but he has now been hooked and says won’t use regular milk again. Our family not only uses it in our shakes, but also in oatmeal, cereal, hot chocolate, and I drink it alone if I am craving milk. Having my family make the switch from regular milk to Milkadamia is truly a lifestyle change but it has become our new normal!
What am I loving about Milkadamia Macadamia milk?
– It is lactose free! I’m lactose intolerant so I can’t drink regular milk
– I’m not crazy about the taste of almond, cashew or coconut milk. This Milkadamia milk has a thicker consistency and a richer and much more tasteful flavor! Also it has the most milk-like consistency out of all the other options out there!
– It does not require refrigeration, so you can take it on road trips or on-the-go
– It is Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Vegan, Soy Free, free of GMOs & gluten
– It has lots of nutrition and vitamins!
-Made from raw macadamias for a subtle, milky taste
-Just 50 calories per serving
-Completely sugar free!
-50% more calcium than dairy milk
I switch off between unsweetened vanilla Milkadamia milk and the original flavor. Both are delicious and make the shake thicker and SO delicious! Also, a tip is to make sure you cut up bananas when they are really ripe and freeze them in a ziploc bag. The shake will taste better and have a thicker/ smoother consistency if the bananas are frozen. You can also pre-make the dry ingredients if you need to make this recipe quick before the kiddos wake up or before you head out the door for work! I get small ziploc bags, and pre-measure all the dry ingredients for the week. I scoop them all into five individual bags that way I don’t have to get all the stuff out and it saves so much time!
Today I’m sharing with you guys my favorite protein shake I make all the time! I started making protein smoothies after I had Kennedy last year mainly to build back up my protein and help with muscle loss and recovery after giving birth. I honestly think drinking protein shakes before and after delivery helps your body out so much! I would have it as a breakfast shake or just drink it after my workouts once I started working out! Drinking this protein shake, I have noticed I have more lean muscle and I have actually lost quite a bit of weight. Since lightly working out 6 months pp, eating really healthy, drinking LOTS of water, and drinking a protein shake for breakfast or after a workout- I have lost a total of 50 lbs!!! I totally believe in nourishing your body with whole, fresh, and healthy foods and the benefits you will see are amazing. I stopped giving into “social eating” and stopped eating junk just because I saw other people doing it. I only have a cheat meal once a week and I try my best to eat clean and healthy throughout the week. Usually for lunch and dinner I will have a salad or chicken, salmon and veggies and brown rice. I also cut out dessert during the week, mindless snacking, and coke! If I’m craving something sweet I keep dark chocolate in the fridge and I will have a piece of that to satisfy my sweet tooth. I notice when I started eating healthy foods and cutting junk food out of my main diet, I feel so much lighter and more confident in my body!
I am currently just going on about 2 mile walks with Kennedy everyday, and going to the gym to do weights and cardio a couple times a week. But I am starting a new fitness studio with intense workout classes here in Orange County in the beginning of December! So I will be showing you all my workout and healthy foods I am eating more once that starts!
“Women who drink protein shakes may retain more muscle and lose more fat. … It’s true that high-protein shakes can help develop lean muscle mass, which is a benefit for all women, but it’s also true that shakes can encourage fat loss, increase satiety, deliver essential nutrients and even improve metabolic activity.”

Thank you for this great post. I noticed that oatmeal is pictured but not included in the recipe. How much do you add? Is it old fashioned oats?
Katelyn Jones says
I usually add 1/4 cup oats! 🙂
