TRAVEL GUIDE: HONEYMOON IN HAWAII
We just got back from our Honeymoon in Oahu, Hawaii! It was so incredibly beautiful and fun! I want share with you all the fun activities to do in Oahu, the best places to eat, and things to see!
There are so many places to see and do and endless amounts of food options to choose from- we didn’t wanted to leave! Our hotel was in Ko’Olina on the east side of the island and had it’s own beautiful secluded bay! From hiking through lush tropical forests to snorkeling in crystal clear waters, Oahu definitely was the best choice for our honeymoon! Here are some pictures from our vacation and the things we did and places we ate at! I can’t wait to go back to this beautiful island of paradise again soon!
XO,
Katelyn
We spent the morning exploring the North Shore of Oahu and checking out Bonzai Pipeline!
We got some fruit from this cute fruit stand on the side of the highway (the fruit there is heavenly) and walked across the street to this secluded and secret cove!
This is the Pali Lookout! It looks over this beautiful, green, and lush tropical valley, Honolulu, Diamond Head and the ocean! As you can tell, it was quite windy up there!!
The Valley of the Temples is tucked away off the side of the mountain on the windward side of Oahu. Beneath a majestic mountain range was this Buddhist Temple. They have filmed tons of movies here and there are the prettiest black swans that live there!
Oahu has tons of beautiful beaches but our FAVORITE beach was Lani Kai Beach on the west side of the island! It had crystal clear, warm water and I felt like I was sitting in a bath tub! haha There are also pretty coral reefs with tons of fish, and two islands off in the distance!
After a day at the beach, Alex and I made sure we checked out the Laie LDS Temple! It was soo pretty and peaceful there!
Before dinner in the North Shore, we stopped at Sunset Beach to watch this beautiful sunset! Nothing beats this beautiful view!
We woke up early and hiked to the top of Diamond Head! Diamond Head is an inactive volcano that has 360 degree views of the ocean and all of Waikiki! Definitely a must-do while in Oahu!
It was a bit chilly and rainy that morning, but the Volcom Pipeline Pro Surf Competition was so awesome! The waves were HUGE and seeing these surfers surf those big waves was so great to watch!
We hiked to this pretty waterfall called Moana Falls! The pictures don’t do it justice, but we felt like we were in a tropical rainforest! This is where they filmed a lot of scenes from Jurassic Park! Don’t make my mistake and be sure to bring bug spray!
Ever since I was little, I always dreamed of swimming with dolphins! This was such an amazing experience and I got to dance with and kiss this cute bottle nosed dolphin!!!
I have a slight obsession with Dole Whipped Pineapple, and had to stop at the Dole Plantation to get my fix!
Here are our favorite places we ate at during our stay in Oahu:
1. Elephant Truck- Located in the North Shore of Oahu, this unasumming food truck has the BEST Thai food ever!!!
2. Roy’s Steakhouse- In Waikiki, it has delicious gourmet asian fusion dishes and the freshest fish we’ve ever had!
3. Bonzai Sushi- In the North Shore, it has yummy and mouth watering sushi! But the best part is getting to eat our dinner relaxed and sitting down on comfy cushions!
4. Leonard’s Malasadas- Try these sugar coated Peruvian donuts and watch yourself become addicted!
5. Top of Waikiki- It has beautiful and romantic 360 degree views of the city of Waikiki at night! The calamari and steaks are amazing!
6. My Cafe- In Kapolei, this is the best breakfast place we tried in Oahu! Alex and I shared the Eggs Benedict and the Cookie Butter Pancakes (biscoff cookie spread with biscoff cookie crumbles on top).
7. Serg’s Mexican Kitchen- We needed our Mexican food fix after a few days in Hawaii, and found Serg’s- and it didn’t disappoint!
8. Matsumoto Shaved Ice- Located in charming Haleiwa Town in the North Shore, this refreshing shaved ice with ice cream on the bottom was perfect after a hot day at the beach!
9. Kono’s- In Haleiwa Town in the North Shore is a cute lunch place that is known for their burritos and their pork plates! This local favorite has fresh juice and they also have refreshing and delicious homemade strawberry lemonade (my favorite!)
10. Side Street Inn Cafe- This “dive” bar/restaurant in Honolulu didn’t look like anything special, but once we tried their Kalua Pig Sliders and award winning fried rice, we were amazed how delicious the food was!
