SHOP THE POST:
I recently spruced up my bed with the Shoreline Bedding Collection from Kathy Kuo Home! Our bedding feels so luxurious and makes me feel like I’m in a hotel bed now! I have been wanting to refresh our master bedroom since we moved into our new house in the beginning of Summer. I have been slowly adding some new features and decor to our room. Here is what we have planned to do: paint the walls, add crown molding, baseboards, add barn door going to bathroom, built-in entertainment center, shutters, and new wall art above the bed! I was tempted to upgrade our Queen bed to a King, but we are in LOVE with our mattress from Allswell and headboard. We also are comfortable in a queen, so don’t see the need to change it right away. Even though our house is a new construction, there were several things we weren’t able to choose because we bought it a month before construction was finishing up. Luckily, there were already a lot of features and upgrades we would’ve chosen and love! If you are looking for a simple master bedroom refresh, I honestly think the easiest way is to change out your bedding. I think it is the centerpiece in a master bedroom!
I have always dreamt of having luxurious bedding like the ones in hotels. I got a whole new bedding set, and to say I’m obsessed is an understatement! Since we live in Southern California now, and close to the beach, I wanted a style that would go with our lifestyle. I chose the Ann Gish Modern Shoreline Bedding Collection. First, I love the texture that this bedding collection has. The Regency Shoreline Duvet set has a textured pearl finish, and feels so silky soft. II love the neutral beautiful tones woven throughout this duvet, the wavelike texture and the subtle pearl luminous finish! It adds a subtle touch of color to the neutral look I wanted. The quilted pillows and coverlet is what really makes this bedding stand out in my opinion. I love the unique texture it adds and really makes the bedding set a more “layered” and put together look I was seeking.
Here are some tips I have for achieving that layered bedding look:
- First, you will need a fitted sheet. Then a flat sheet to go over that, but make sure it is tightly tucked all the way around the sides. I love this whole sheet set from Ann Gish and the neutral grey lines would go amazing with so many different duvet colors!
2. Next, find a duvet that fits your decor and personal style. This really is the focal point in your layered bedding look. I chose the Shoreline duvet and really think it is perfect for so many decor styles. Also, once we get our grey barn door installed and paint the walls, it really will accentuate the colors in it. It’s hard to tell with the bright morning lightening, but it has soft cream, beige and a hint of grey throughout.
3. Make the duvet extra thick + puffy! One tip is to get an extra thick down comforter to insert inside the duvet. If that isn’t in your budget, you can also just layer 2 duvets! That is what I did and it works perfectly fine! It also makes it extra heavy for colder months, which we are gearing up for. I also LOVE heavy blankets and it makes me sleep so much better. I fold my duvet in half when I make the bed, and place it at the foot of the bed.
4. Place a coverlet that goes under the duvet! I think finding a silky one or a textured one makes it look much more put together. The Euro shams should match the coverlet, and the one I have comes in a set together!
5. Lastly, add 1-3 smaller accent pillows. I LOVE this champagne colored Duchess Pillow! I love the simple and elegant feel it gives to finish off the look!
