My Goals + Resolution’s for 2020!
I cant believe it’s almost 2020! I’m sharing how I use my Serena & Lily Bar Cart for holidays and entertaining, and some of my goals for the New Year!
This Serena & Lily Bar Cart is one of my favorite new addition to our home! The South Seas Bar Cart is so versatile and is a great go-to for entertaining! I have it in our front entryway and love styling it with pictures of the family, a flower arrangement, photo albums, books, and little pieces of decor I collect. This Holiday season, I have loved having it to turn into a little station for entertaining and when we have people over. For Christmas, it is perfect for a hot chocolate station or to store tableware and drinks. This New Years, I had fun decorating it for NYE and adding our favorite sparkling pink lemonade and some snacks! It has wheels on it, so it can easily be moved around your space, which is so nice. I love this entertaining essential because it also doubles as a fabulous console table. The design is inspired by a mid-century antique and it has amazing textural beauty with it’s woven rattan. Serena & Lily has a variety of different bar carts with different styles and sizes to fit any space and decor! It fits perfectly in our space and is an entertaining essential! As I sit here writing at my desk, I can’t help but reflect on this past year. We welcomed our baby boy Dane into the family, did lots of fun projects in our new home, made amazing memories as a family here in California, and so much more. I am SO ready to reset my mind and make a new plan for 2020. NOTHING is off limits and the potential is endless. I wanted to share some of my new goals for 2020 and help you plan and organize your goals as well!
Since we are all multidimensional, it would be silly to just have one goal. We have a bunch of different areas in our lives that are of great importance. I recommend sorting your goals into these four different categories:
Personal
Spiritual
Financial
Health
First, I would do a big Brain Dump of everything you envision for you life and what you want to accomplish- nothing is too BIG!!! Just dump it all out on a piece of paper or you can use this free printable to write it on. After that, go through and really think about what you want to hone in on and what you think is attainable. Then sort your goals into four different categories!
Personal
“Motherhood is not a hobby, it is a calling. It is not something to do if you can squeeze the time in. It is what God gave you time for.” Neil L. Anderson I absolutely LOVE this quote and always read it when I’m feeling overwhelmed. There are days when I absolutely can’t even find time to run to the bathroom, let alone tackle my to-do list. I have all these goals I want to do with my kids each day, and some days nothing ever gets done. Then I read this quote and think about what did I do today that my kids will remember. All the times I was sitting with them on the floor playing, snuggling them, kissing them, singing and being silly with them. After everything is said and done, nothing truly matters to me but being the best mom I can be. For this new year, I want to continue to make memories when my children and really be SO present. Even when our days aren’t perfectly planned or even GOING as planned. I want to quit beating myself up for not having a spotless house every.single.day. And to be okay with small messes here and there. Our walls in our home is for memories to be made, fun to be had, and worries to be left at the door! I also want to start traveling and doing more family trips and girls trips. Some places I want to go this year is Charleston, Hawaii, New York City and Vancouver. ANother personal goal I have is to finally read this book I’ve been dying to read for a while called Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis. It’s been one of those books I’ve been meaning to read but never seem to find the time, or I’m always too tired at the end of the day to. As it is, I’m not a huge reader, neither is Alex. So this is something I am going to try to change this year.
Spiritual
One of my biggest goal for 2020 is making daily prayers, meditation and scripture study apart of my routine day and night. It is something that I honestly have been not making my top priority. My one big spiritual goal is something so easy but also so hard. Sometimes we take the little things like scripture study and prayer for granted, or we make excuses such as I’m too tired” or “I never have enough time in the day to squeeze it in.” I read a quote once that said if you don’t have enough time in the day for those things, then you’re too busy. My small and simple goal for 2020 is to make both of those things a daily part of my routine- day and night! I also want to make it a point to do mindful meditation every morning to just clear my mind from everything I need to do and just get re-centered before I take on the busy day.
Financial
Alex and I bought our first house here in California 2 years ago when I was 29 years old! We absolutely LOVE it here in Orange County and want to (fingers crossed) stay in this area forever. We want to continue saving for our next house (not for another few years) and keep putting money aside for Dane and Kennedy’s college/ future. So my biggest financial goal for 2020 is to save and set budgets! I recently downloaded this app called MINT! You can enter in your financial goals, see all your bills and money easily in one place, create budgets tailored to you and your family’s goals. I plan on utlizing a budget more for our family and working towards our financial goals!
Health
I get asked often what I do to help shed my baby weight, but to be completely honest I haven’t been doing much. I gained around 55 pounds when I was pregnant with Dane, and have only lost 35 of it. SO I still have 15-20 more pounds to go. But I would be happy with 10-15 pounds! Some major health goals I plan on doing is working out 6 days a week. Whether it be weights, floor exercises, or the spin bike at home, it’s something I plan on doing for 2020. I also want to drink a LOT more water. For the most part, I eat fairly healthy, but I do want to eat more salads, protein and veggies at home, and not eat out so much during the week. I’m mainly making these health goals for my health and to be the best mom and wife I can be. When I feel goo about myself, I am happier, have more energy to play with the kids, and I have higher self-esteem. After having several issues this year, one of them being my appendix bursting and needing surgery, I realized how precious having good health is and how much we take it for granted. That scare made me realize also how fragile life is and your health isn’t guaranteed for anyone, but you can do your best to stay active and healthy and do your part!
