Today I’m sharing Dane’s 6-7 month baby update!
OUTFIT: Zara Baby (Shirt + Pants) | SHOES: Zappos | BLANKET: Little Giraffe
6-7 MONTH MILESTONES:
-CHANGES + MILESTONES: He is spinning and sitting up unassisted now! Dane loves grabbing things and putting EVERYTHING in his mouth! He also likes sucking on his fingers too. haha I can tell Dane is teething again, so I got several teething toys for him- I’ll share them below! He has two bottom teeth! He is about 29″ and weighs 21 pounds!Dane loves his mommy, daddy, sister and cats! He also loves other babies and kids too! At the end of 6 months old, he started fully sitting up unsupported and will spin to where he wants to go. He always loves playing on his playmat and with his toys. He also loves watching his big sister play and thinks she is so fun to watch! He is wearing size 9-12 month clothes and is a size 2 shoe. Some activities I enjoy doing with him now is taking him to the swing at the park, having him play on the grass at the park, going on our daily walks, reading books, running errands with mommy and spending time with his cousins and family! This month I have started taking him to My Gym and I’m also going to start swimming lessons for him soon as well.
-TALKING + COMMUNICATING – Dane loves to say “DADA or “MAMA” and babbles a lot too!
-WHAT DANE LOVES – His new favorite activity right now is the My Gym class I take him to once a week. It is a mommy and me class where the babies can interact with each other, explore the gym mats, do activities such as flips, walking the balance beam, singing, bubbles, and much more. Dane also loves the swings at the park, swimming, the beach, smiling at strangers at the grocery store or Target, walks in his car, and “playing” with his cousins!
-SLEEP – He is still sleeping around 12 hours straight at night and takes 2 naps longer naps and 1 cat nap between 4-5pm. His wake time is usually only 2 hours before he starts to rub his eyes and let mommy know it’s time for a nap
-EATING – He LOVES food and never refuses a meal! He gets mad if I don’t start feeding him fast enough once he’s in his high chair haha I give him about 25oz of formula a day! A bottle when he wakes up in the morning, after all his naps, and a bottle before bed. Sometimes he will drink it all and sometimes he won’t. He has been refusing the bottle a little more lately, and is just wanting solid food instead. He eats three meals a day, with some snacks in between if he seems hungry. He eats mainly purees with some finger foods now and likes to feed himself. He eats what I eat and so far loves everything we have given him! He has had chicken, steak, quinoa, most veggies like broccoli, carrots, spinach, kale, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, and avocado, whole milk yogurt, greek yogurt, bread, beans, lots of different fruits, like pears, bananas, strawberries, mango, and blueberries. All the veggies I give him are steamed and cut into tiny pieces!
-PLAYING – Dane LOVES playing with all his toys and especially loves this singing and talking puppy, this activity center table, and this activity center walker. I have a playmat he will play on in our family room and that is his “play area.” That is where I have all his toys and everything laid out for him. Dane loves peek-a-boo, and I also read to him at least three times a day!
DANE’S DAILY SCHEDULE +FEEDING SCHEDULE:
Dane has been drinking around 25 ounces of formula a day! He has a bottle when he wakes up in the morning, after each of his 3 naps, and one before bed. He is now eating 2-3 tablespoons of solids 3 times a day as well. Some foods Dane loves eating are vegetables and fruit! He has had sweet potatoes, butternut squash, carrots, peas, prunes, bananas, kiwi, turkey, ground beef, chicken, whole milk yogurt, quinoa, pears, kale, zucchini, and strawberries! He loves eating his oatmeal for breakfast and I mix in strawberry and banana puree. For lunch I give him a vegetable and fruit mix and dinner a veggie mix with some sort of meat like turkey. In between meals I give him these teething crackers and puffs. He also just started eating these yogi snacks and he loves them!
Each day is slightly different (give or take 30min, but usually his schedule looks like this. He stays awake for 2-2.5 hours, no more than 3-4 hours! He takes 2 naps a day now w/ a cat nap and sleeps 12 hours at night. Below is the schedule my awesome baby sleep consultant Jess Hudson from The Sleep Shop created for Dane! She has been SOO helpful with answering all my texts and sleep questions during the first 6 months of Dane’s life!

6-9 MONTH NOTES FROM JESS:
-Babies vary quite a bit in when they’re ready to drop the catnap and transition to just 2 naps
-If you’re 6-month-old isn’t ready for this schedule, that’s ok – some need longer to get to these wake windows
-When you do the transition, bump bedtime up by 30 minutes or so until baby is able to stay awake until the regular bedtime
-It’s ok if the morning nap stays closer to 9 – the morning wake window is often shortest
-As baby gets closer to 9 months, a wake window up to 3.5 hours is possible, but remember all babies are ready at different times
