Batman Themed Birthday Party!
I’m sharing all the details from my three year old son’s Batman Birthday Party!
My sweet son Dane is THREE years old!!! I cannot believe how fast the past three years have flown by! Maybe it’s because a lot of distractions have happened during that time (covid, moving, ect…) but it definitely has felt like yesterday that I was just taking him home from the hospital. He is adventurous, funny, happy, sweet and just my perfect little boy!! I know everyone thinks their child is especially perfect (as they should!) but I really feel like I hit the jackpot with Dane! He is such a sweet spirit and has the most tenderhearted soul.
We couldn’t wait to throw Dane an epic 3rd birthday party and really make him feel like a big boy and so special!! Dane is absolutely obsessed with Batman and has been telling us for months about how excited he was for his birthday party! I love how he is old enough to express what he’d like for his party and the opinions he’s shared with us about what he wants. I decided to do a more monochrome Batman theme so it was pretty easy to blend in and mix backdrops and other things keeping all the colors simple!
Some of the DIY things we did for the party was my husband Alex made the kid’s palette table the week before the party. It turned into the perfect little table to set up for the kids! The backdrops we also made the week before as well. (See bottom paragraph to learn how to DIY these projects!) The balloon garlands I made myself as well. I recommend doing the balloon garlands 1-2 days in advance. They will still last and look great and create a lot less stress at the last minute since it’s a little time consuming. However, any helium balloons I would only blow up the day of the party. I also made a lot of the signage with my Cricut machine. This is my favorite DIY craft tool I own! I use it for holidays, birthday parties, and so much more all the time. The final product always turns out great and totally custom!
For the dessert table we had a Batman cake, Batman cake pops and Batman custom cookies. Gotta go all out and dedicate yourself to the theme, am I right?! We had a food table for the kids and then another kid’s table was dedicated just for them to color their own capes and masks. Having the kid’s create their own cape and masks was such a hit with the kids! I always recommend having some sort of hands-on activity like coloring or painting so they will always have something to stay busy with! Also, I recommend using markers for this activity, because they can wear them right away and the kid’s can pretty much go to town with whatever design they want!
Then we surprised Dane with a real life Batman which absolutely made his dreams come true!!! He was on cloud 9 having him show up at his party and Batman did a lot of fun things for the kids. He had the kids do superhero training and other fun games. It was great having a character run all the games and entertainment because Alex and I could finally relax and the other parents could just sit back and chat! It is definitely worth the extra splurge if you’re on the fence whether or not to hire a character to come to your kid’s birthday party!
DIY Backdrop:
From Home Depot, Alex bought 1” thick foam board- 4’ x 8’ in size. They are about $20 each. Don’t spray paint! Make sure you roll the foam board.
DIY Pallet Table:
First frame out the size you want with 2”x4”s then use ½” x 3” boards for the top. Just remove the top boards, sand the frame (to prevent splinters) then fill in the top with ½” x 3” boards. You can also use just pallets you find behind stores or wherever you can find them!
I’m a big birthday person, I LOVE showering my loved ones with all the celebrations on their birthday and that has carried over onto my kids! This party was so fun and came together so well and Dane and all the kiddos had a great time! I’ve loved sharing all the elements that went into making this Batman themed birthday party so special and hope you’ll be inspired for your little one’s future birthday party!
