This Friday my husband got off work early, so we decided to have a picnic in Central Park that afternoon! When we lived in Provo, Utah, where we both went to college and first met, we used to have picnics all the time. We have a picnic basket at home, but for our picnic here in NYC, we opted for the second best option- a large straw bag! I wore this cute embroidered sundress from SheIn! I love wearing dresses in the summer, especially on hot and humid days when I don’t want anything skin tight on me! I wore it with my embellished sandals, which are under $10 right now! For the perfect picnic, there is a little bit of planning and things you need to get before hand! I put together a list of seven things you’ll need for a perfect picnic!
1. If you don’t have access to any picnic tables, a good sized blanket is a must! No one wants to sit on wet grass or dirt, or worse have bugs crawling all over you!
2. A large bag or picnic basket to carry all of your belongings! It makes it so much easier and enjoyable especially when you are walking across a large park like Central Park!
3. Good drinks and food to munch on! I always like to bring an array of different snacks that will last though the duration of the picnic. Snacks like fruit, nuts, crackers, cheese, hummus, and candy are great! If you don’t have a picnic table or a place to really store a lot of food, I always bring individual sandwiches for each person. When we are home, we make delicious sandwiches, wrap them up, and bring them with us!
4. Whether you’re having a picnic with a large group or just for two, it’s always good to have something fun to do instead of eating! Bring something fun to throw around such as a football, soccer ball, kite, or frisbee! We brought a frisbee with us this time!
5. If you want to turn it into a cute date, bring a laptop with a movie and popcorn! This is always a cute and cheap date idea!
6. To place all your food, be sure to bring a tray for your crackers and cheeses, bowls for the fruit, utensils and plates to eat on! Oh and don’t forget the napkins!
7. Good music is a must at a picnic! A portable speaker can be found at Target, Walmart, or Best Buy for pretty reasonable prices!
