How I Stay Focused as a Stay-at-Home Mom
In today’s post I’m talking all about how I stay focused as a busy, stay-at-home mom! I’m sharing what I have been doing to stay patient and juggle everything on my plate!

Most of my time these days are spent in the comfiest clothes I can find, which are all my lounge wear from Jockey! They have the comfiest joggers that are super soft and feel light as air. I also have switched to wearing their retro bralette which is light weight, features a soft-stretch elastic fabric, and gives me great support. I also love the fun retro print and colors this collection offers! I also got a few items for my hospital bag and post-baby such as their best selling Comfies Microfiber Brief – 3 Pack underwear. Jockey’s Slimmers Hidden Panel Cami comes in two colors and has a hidden panel for sucking in everything. It’s great to wear under your regular shirts and blouses!
Today I want to talk to you about how I juggle being a mom, wife, having a full time job blogging, taking care of housework, making time for friends, and taking care of myself (a shower or a workout would be nice!). It’s a lot to accomplish all in one day- I would definitely consider my cup full these days especially with being pregnant on top of it all. But I never want to miss out on the little moments, so I try to cherish all the time I have with just Kennedy right now. Being a stay-at-home mom is something I’ve always dreamed of since I was in high school, and it truly is the best job in the world! Whether you’re a working mom or stay-at-home mom, it’s hard to find time for yourself and sometimes realize how amazing the gift of raising children really is. One thing I always remind myself every single day is that she will only be little like this for such a short amount of time. Having that reminder in my head everyday really makes me cherish every minute, every silly moment, every teachable moment, and has helped me have more patience on those extra long days. Before I know it, she won’t be my baby anymore and will be off with friends and going to school. For a few months now, I’ve tried to be more intentional about how I spend my time with Kennedy, how I am able to stay focused, and stay on top of everything I need to accomplish as a stay-at-home-mom.
First off, I want to talk about mom-guilt and how real it is! A lot of moms (whether you’re a working mom or you stay at home) feel this guilt about getting work done and feeling like you’re not giving “enough” to your children. This is totally normal and something I myself deal with on the daily! I think the best way to cope with this feeling is keeping your life balanced. Knowing that you ARE spending quality time with your children and getting all you need to get done as a mom and wife will help you focus on being the best mom you can be!
Here are my best tips to stay focused and organized as a stay at home mom:
Routine:
One of the ways I try to fit it all in and stay focused as a stay at home mom is to keep my tasks and days organized. I’m ALL about routines and keeping things consistent. People (and children!) thrive on routine and it just makes your days run smoother when everyone knows what the game plan is. I try to always fit a little “me time” in in the morning before Kennedy wakes up by waking up early and getting a few things done so I don’t have to do them late at night when I’m too tired. It also helps me start my day on the right foot and make me feel more productive. One thing that always wakes me up and helps me to stay focused during the day is taking a quick shower in the morning and spending about 5 min putting a little makeup on and a cute outfit. I ALWAYS feel better about myself and my days run smoother when I get this out of the way before Kennedy wakes up! I also have a set routine for Kennedy as well and she has always loved knowing exactly what she’ll be doing next with me during the day! I attribute her happy demeanor and good sleeping habits to the routine we’ve set in place for her since she was an infant. It makes everyone feel more secure about themselves as well.
Write it out:
They say when you write things down (preferably in a planner or daytime organizer of some sort) you remember it much better! This is so true and I can attest to this. I have a large calendar in my office I write ahead of time the things I need to get done for the days and weeks ahead. It keeps me from forgetting important work deadlines and special events. I am a big planner so this is so key for me in staying focused and organized! I feel like I accomplish so much more when everything is written out in front of me.
Set goals:
Goal setting is so important to me and a way for me to grow and progress in my everyday life and career! I think setting yearly/ monthly/ weekly/ daily goals are so important if you really want to get focused and really start nailing down the tasks you’d like to get done! I would write these down somewhere you can be reminded of them everyday. Whether that’s on a whiteboard or your planner- anywhere you check often is good! As far as the daily goals I set, I normally decide on this the night before or in the morning before Kennedy wakes up. It has helped me so immensely with being better at working out, keeping the house in order, eating healthier and being a better wife and mom! So much good comes from setting goals and I challenge you to do the same!
Delegate:
Trying to be a stay-at-home-mom that “does it all” isn’t being a superhero! Your tank will eventually go to empty and you’ll feel like you’re failing if you don’t ask or seek help for tasks other’s would be willing to help out with! I think it’s important for husband and wives to each have separate choirs to do so we can all find balance in our life and not one of us is doing more of anything. I myself like to be in charge of making Kennedy’s breakfast, tidying up the house, running the errands and grocery shopping. Alex has been in charge of doing dishes after I cook, helps a lot with laundry, and helps a lot with Kennedy when he is home from work. Our routine has worked out so well for us! I also have a babysitter come Monday and Wednesday mornings for a few hours so I can get all of my work done on those two days! I think delegating tasks to others will help you stay focused and less overwhelmed- which in the long run will make you a better wife, worker, and stay-at-home mom!
I hope these tips that I’ve implemented into my life will be of help for all you stay-at-home-moms out there! It’s not easy doing so much from home but keeping myself accountable and on-task with these tips have helped me so immensely. I truly believe any mom can feel accomplished and do more in their day if they can stay focused with what they need to get done; and feeling accomplished brings so much joy and satisfaction in your life. I can attest to this!
