MY HAIR ROUTINE…
Hi guys! Today I am sharing with you my hair routine and the products I love! I started highlighting and using hot tools on my hair since the 8th grade, so my hair has been through a LOT! From it unexpectantly turning orange at a salon in high school or getting fried from being overworked during acting and modeling jobs, my hair has been through it all. Over the years, I’ve collected some tips and tricks of the trade from hair stylists on sets and my favorite hair stylist from the Beverly Hills Jonathan and George Salon Kacey Welch. She did my hair when I lived in California, and she its truly a hair god! She does amazing highlights and sew-in extensions. In addition to Kacey, I would go to Allie Paronelli for my cut and styling! She is truly amazing and always makes makes me look like a million bucks!
I think the first key to great hair starts in the shower, with your shampoo and conditioner. I REALLY notice a big difference between quality shampoo and conditioner and low quality ones. I use Kerastase shampoo and conditioner, and I use the hair mask two times a week as well.
Before I blow-dry, while my hair is still damp but dried a little from being up in a towel, I spray a few sprits of the It’s a 10 spray. It helps condition your hair and gets out the tangles. Then I put a nickel size amount of the Kerastase heat protecting cream on my hair, focusing on the ends. I don’t put it on my roots because it weighs down your hair and can make it greasy faster.
I use a few different kind of brushes for different purposes. For brushing out tangles, I use a wide tooth comb or a detangling brush like the one above. Always use a comb on wet hair, because it makes it easier to get knots out and does less damage on your hair than a regular brush. When I blow-dry my hair, I rough dry it with my hands 85%, and then use round brush until it’s fully dry to smooth it out. Then, I use a Mason Pearson brush after my hair is dry for styling and brushing out curls. My Mason Pearson brush is my absolute favorite!! Something about that brand of brush makes your hair look instantly amazing. No other hair brush can do what my Mason Pearson does! It is on the expensive side, but they last forever and it is a great investment to add to your beauty arsenal! 😉
For styling, I almost always curl my hair. I don’t remember the last time I actually wore my hair straight haha. I just don’t like how my hair looks straight, and I feel like soft, loose curls are the most flattering on me. I also just feel my best when my hair is done and curled. Plus when I do curl it and set it with hairspray, it lasts me a few days (which is longer than if I straightened it). I always use a curler such as the Enzo Milano 1″ curling wand. If yours comes with a glove, I recommend you wear it if you are new to using one, because your fingers are always so close to the wand! I did a tutorial on how to achieve beachy, Victoria Secret waves. So you can see in the video what I do to curl! After curling, I sometimes use a light hairspray such as L’Oreal Elnette Hair Spray or Moroccan Oil Hairspray. If I’m wearing my extensions, I usually don’t use hair spray just so I don’t ruin the extensions.
That is pretty much all for my hair routine! Let me know if you have any questions! I hope this has helped you!
