HAIR TUTORIAL: LOOSE AND SOFT CURLS
Hey Guys! Today I’m sharing with you this quick (and fairly easy) hair style which I do almost every other day! I don’t wash my hair every day, mostly every other day, but when I curl I always start with freshly washed and blow dried hair. I do this so I can have my curls last a couple days, and I won’t have to wash it right away! I switch off between Kerastate Shampoo and conditioner, and Redken All-Soft Shampoo & Conditioner! After I get out of the shower, I spray It’s a 10 Leave in Product and with a wide-tooth comb, comb it through my hair and get all the tangles out! Before I blow dry my hair, I spray it with Kendra Blow-Dry Spray! I fully blow dry it and then mist some Kendra Heat Protecting Spray throughout my hair and brush it again! Now it’s time to start curling!
Some tools that I usually use when I curl my hair! You don’t always need to clip your hair up, but if your hair is ultra thick it might help a lot! I usually just grab random sections to make it look not so uniform.
Hairspray | Clips, Glove & Brush (included in purchase of curling iron- another favorite brush) | Heat Protecting Spray
The curling iron I’m using today is my Sultra 1″ Rod Curling Iron! I LOVE this curling iron because it heats up in seconds and creates the perfect curl instantly! It cuts my curling time almost in half than when I use other ones. I also love the wand curling iron because I feel like it’s easier to maneuver and control the curl without a clamp! There is also no clamp lines, and I think it keeps my hair healthier because it’s not on the iron as long as a clamp iron!
I already went ahead and curled my hair, but I grab 1″ sections of my hair and wrap it around the barrel- creating a slight twist in the hair. I always start with the front pieces and move back! I also curl my hair away from my face! That will create a beachy and loose wave! If you were to lay your hair flat, that will give you a more formal, and tighter curl. I hold the curl on the barrel for about 10 seconds and release it into my hand! I ALWAYS do this because it will help form the curl and I notice it holds much longer! I will also slightly squeeze it in my hand for a few seconds and let it cool a bit, then I release it! Once I’m done with one side, I move on to the other side, and do the same thing!
After I’m done curling, I lightly mist it with my favorite hairspray and gently brush it through! It creates more soft waves and a not so “done” look! But this step is totally optional if you like the way it looks without brushing through! 🙂
Hope you guys enjoyed this quick hair tutorial for loose and soft waves!! Feel free to comment or email me with any questions you have! Have fun creating this hairstyle and hope you have a great day! XOXO
