Mermaid Themed 4th Birthday Party!
I’m sharing all the details from Kennedy’s 4th mermaid themed birthday party!
I wanted to share with you all the details from Kennedy’s 4th Birthday Party! Kennedy turned four last year, but I am just now getting around to writing this. I have recently received some questions about Kennedy’s 4th birthday party and Dane’s 1st birthday as well. You can check out Dane’s Baseball Themed Birthday Party here! All last year, Kennedy was begging me for a party and to do a mermaid theme. She hadn’t had a birthday party since she turned one, so I wanted to do something to make her feel special for her fourth! We decided to invite her friends from school and church that she was seeing every week already, and our immediate family!
In this post, I wanted to also share some details and tips on throwing a successful kids party! First off, I always start by going to my Pinterest and creating an inspiration board a couple months before. It helps me visualize and plan what I need to order before I start randomly ordering a bunch of things I might not need or use. I also think a great idea for a toddler birthday party is to hire entertainment! I found an amazing company here in South Orange County called Party Karacters that does kid parties and has a lot of different characters to choose from. I was hesitant because it is a little bit pricey for just a kid party, but it really was SO amazing and worth every penny. I honestly don’t know what I would’ve done without the mermaid there. A big tip is I recommend the week of the party, to make sure you have all your decorations and all the food ordered. Have someone ready to pick up the food the day of while you’re setting up or do it before. I had the cake and cake pops picked up a couple days before the party. If you can, have a helper start helping you set up early in the morning the day of the party. I would also recommend having someone else or your spouse watch the kids or take them somewhere during set -up.
My sweet friend Anna from Gather and Pop (@gatherandpop) came and set-up the beautiful balloon arch, kid table balloons! She also made adorable custom handmade wood signs to put around the party. She did her thing setting up, and my mother and I were able to do all the other party set-up. She came with all the balloons already blown up, so if you are planning on doing the balloon arch yourself- I would recommend doing all that the night before. After all that late night prep and set-up all morning, I was already pretty tired. But thankfully, the mermaid showed up 30 minutes after the party started and totally took over! She kept all the toddlers entertained for the whole two hours, and had lots of activities planned for them. While she first started with face painting, I had a small table set-up so the other kids could paint treasure boxes or seashells instead of waiting around. Also I had lunch offered at this time so the kids were full and didn’t get cranky towards the end. After face painting, she did story time, dancing and bubbles- the kids LOVED it! Then she “crowned” the princess (Kennedy) and we did singing, cake, and photos with the mermaid!
Kennedy had so much fun celebrating her special day with her friends and family! I also have some more pics and video from her birthday over on my IG (@katelynpjones)! Below I am sharing the all the details and links to the party decor! Hope you found this helpful and found some inspiration for your own mermaid themed party!
