SIX MONTHS: OUR LOVE STORY…
Today is our six month anniversary! I know I know, it’s not the big one year, but I love celebrating the little things, especially our love 🙂 The past six months (and year and a half of being a couple) has been the most amazing time of my entire life! Every day I get to spend with my best friend, husband, biggest supporter and shoulder to cry on, funniest and goofiest man, and the most amazing man in the entire world is nothing short of the BEST! I truly wake up every morning and look at him and thank God how grateful I am that we found each other. I know it sounds cheesy but he is truly my soul mate and I couldn’t imagine being happy or in love with anyone else. Ever.
Before I met Alex, I just never had to best luck finding “Mr. Right.” Sure I would go on lots of dates and have had a few boyfriends, but I never had the feeling they were ever “the one.” If I thought about a future with them, I would truly get a sick feeling in my stomach and got a dark cloud of bad intuitions about it. haha. It sounds bad, but I always have good intuitions about things, and those relationships I got the feeling none of these guys were the one. I always knew deep down the man I was meant to be with was still out there, and I wasn’t going to settle for anything less! After about eight months of dealing with jerks, weirdos, and “take me home after five minutes” dates, I decided to give up on guys all together. I started the new year with the resolutions to just focus on bettering myself, meeting new friends, doing great in school that coming semester, dedicating myself more to serving others, and growing closer to God.
One Sunday evening in the beginning of January, my roommate Selene invited me to go to a game night at her friend’s place. I was tired and almost didn’t go but I dragged myself and went. Thanks God I did because that was probably the best decision I ever made!!! lol I walked into the apartment full of young people our age, and saw Alex sitting on the couch with his cousin Zac. I saw no one else but him and wanted to get to know him right away! Alex later said I kept giving him the “eye” and checking him out haha But I have to admit I unknowingly probably did! I started talking to him and I told him I am doing Broadcast Journalism at BYU. He then told me his Uncle ran the news station in Salt Lake City, and his name is Richard. We were partners at a few of the games and we talked a little bit, but at the end of the night I left with my friends and he left with his. I thought that was the last time I would ever see him again. But… a few days later he randomly added me on Facebook! But… a few days went by and no message or anything from him.
A week went by…. I was at a restaurant in Provo called Cubby’s, when some older man walked up to my table of friends and started chatting with us. I have no idea who he was and neither did my friends, but he was really funny and nice! I told him I was doing Broadcast Journalism at BYU, and he told me he ran the news station in Salt Lake City. He handed me his business card if I ever wanted to apply for an internship, and the name on the card was Richard! I put two and two together, and figured out this man was Alex’s uncle! I told my friend Nikki and she said to just message Alex and tell him I met his uncle tonight. Finally, I had an excuse to talk to him!
Pretty much from then on (well after our first date), we have been inseparable ever since! We had our first date January 23, 2014 at Sundance in Park City! It was about an 8 hour long date, but it was the best and most fun I’ve ever had with someone on a first date (or any date for that matter). I even texted him after and said I can’t believe our date was 8 hours long! We were having so much fun together I didn’t even notice how long it was. That’s how the past year and a half has been with Alex. It feels like just last week we got married because we are having so much fun together, time is just flying by! I’m so grateful for my sweetie and the amazing husband he is to me. There is nothing in the world I will ever love more than my Alex.
