MY NURSING STORY + WHY I LOVE THE THIRDLOVE NURSING BRA…
As a new mom, this past year has been the most life-changing, hard, yet magical year of my life! There are so many new things you have to learn when becoming a mom for the first time, and even though we try our best to be prepared, nothing can really prepare you for it! When I was pregnant, I bought every baby book, and took all the hospital classes on breastfeeding, newborn care, and infant CPR. While those books and classes helped tremendously, taking care of a tiny human being who solely relies on you every single day is a challenging job. CLICK “Read the Post” to see FULL Post…

GOLD POLKA DOT PILLOW // GLIDER // KENNEDY’S OUTFIT // GOLD SEQUIN HANGER
In the very beginning when Kennedy was a newborn, I didn’t have anyone here helping me besides my husband, and since Kennedy was in the NICU for 2 weeks, he had to go back to work a week after Kennedy was home (he had three weeks paternity leave). I remember crying the night before because it was just going to be me with my newborn baby and Alex was going to be at work ALL day. I’m talking 9am to past 12am every day of the week. I just couldn’t see how I was going to get through the week without him there. Let’s just say those first few months were hard, but it has made me stronger and I feel better equipped to handle things on my own now. The biggest blessing was that Kennedy was a good night sleeper and starting sleeping about 10 hours straight after a month old, and 13 hours by 3 months old! So I was able to at least get a good night sleep at night! 🙂
When Kennedy was still in the NICU, I tried so hard to get her to nurse. I had the Lactation Consultant meet with me every day we went to the hospital to visit Kennedy, and she just would not latch no matter what I tried. I was so devastated. But I went to plan B which was pumping and bottle feeding her my milk. That was what I did for about three months. I pumped for about fifteen minutes, then fed Kennedy a bottle of my milk- and that was about every three hours during the day. I gave her a bottle of formula before bed, and I think it helped her sleep good at night. It got so hard to pump, feed, clean the pump parts, and then repeat the process all day long. It was getting to be too much and it was stressing me out. I was going to give up and switch her over to just formula. When Kennedy was about three months old, I just decided to try again to see if she will breastfeed, and after a day of trying she latched! So from then until she was five and a half months old, I was able to breastfeed her- which was so much easier than pumping and feeding in my opinion! I tried to find good nursing bras, but all the ones I got that were the “best” out there were not cute at all and were uncomfortable. I hated wearing them and they were also not pretty. I wish I would have had the THIRDLOVE nursing bras back when I was nursing Kennedy, but I cannot wait to use them for our next baby! (not pregnant fyi haha!) 😉
Now, let’s get down to the details and see why I love the new THIRDLOVE 24/7 Nursing Bras so much…
“You have enough to think about besides your bra. Our nursing bra is designed to care for new mothers without sacrificing style or fit, so you can take your mind off of it. Super soft cotton modal fabric is soothing to skin, while easy-open cups allow for simplicity while feeding and pumping. The wireless design provides ultra-comfortable support. Complete with a wider, easy front closure, our nursing bra is the perfect fit for the nursery, home or office—or anywhere mothering may take you”- THIRDLOVE
If you know me personally, then you know how much I love baby products and all baby/mommy related products. I get so excited when there are new and innovative products out on the market. The new 24/7 Nursing Bras from THIRDLOVE are some of those amazing products! These nursing bras are unlike anything out there in terms of nursing bras when it comes to comfort, style, and functionality. When shopping for their bras, you have an underwire nursing bra and wireless nursing bra option, and they come in a nude color, soft pink, and black. Both bras are designed for the modern mom, whether at home or in the office, and have a structured and sophisticated look.
They definitely listened to nursing moms and paid attention to what they needed in a nursing bra. From the front open clasps to the tagless (scratch-free!) printed label, they got this nursing bra right for all types of moms. These bras have super soft cotton jersey fabric so it is gentle and soothing when it rubs against the skin and it is non-irritating so it can be worn all day without discomfort. Most other nursing bras I wore were a thick stretchy material which was not comfortable to wear ALL day and night. It forms to your shape which makes this bra so comfortable to wear all day and night.
I would recommend getting the THIRDLOVE nursing bra with the underwire for daytime to provide more support, and then get a second bra for sleeping without the underwire. The pads are memory foam, and it is still ultra thin but has a nice amount of padding. I recommend getting at least two nursing bras in-case one gets dirty or you leak and it gets soaked (had that happen in public a few times! ). You can just change into the other bra while the other one is being washed. These nursing bras come in a wide range of different sizes. They are available in A-F (DDD), including 1/2 sizes! I went from a B cup to a DD after giving birth, so that shows how much bra size changes during pregnancy and after giving birth! If you are unsure about fit or your size, you can use a fun and easy quiz on the THIRDLOVE website to “Try Before You Buy.” You take the quiz, answer some questions, and they help find the bra that they think will be your best fit!
Also, if you are pregnant now, I would bring a nursing bra with you to the hospital (with nursing pads). Also, make sure you size up about 1-2 cup sizes to be prepared for the milk to come in and the breasts getting even larger than what they were during pregnancy. I loved these washable and reusable nursing pads. I found the reusable pads to be more comfortable, they were able able to absorb more, and looked better with my bra and under clothing. I used the disposable pads sometimes, and these ones were the best ones I found.
I LOVE the wide, easy access front closures! It allows you to open and close quicker and easier than traditional back closures. It also makes it easier to get dressed with the closure in the front. I don’t know about you, but I hate back closures, and they also are a pain in the butt to clasp!
Both the 24/7 Classic Nursing Bra and the wireless one have drop down cups to make nursing or pumping easier for mom! They are easy to open and clip back in easily when you are finished. The clasps stay secure all day, so no need to worry about it coming undone.
Not only is this bra functional and has amazing features tailored to make a nursing or pumping mama’s life easier, it is also pretty and stylish too! I love how pretty it is and the attention to detail THIRDLOVE made to the straps! Both nursing bras have luxe pleated straps with super-soft lining for no-slip comfort. So when you are out and about, you don’t have to sacrifice your amazing style while wearing a nursing bra! If you are thinking it must be hard to shop for a bra online without the help of someone in person, think again!! The THIRDLOVE website has SO many tools and tips to help find the perfect for you, all while staying in your pjs and at home! They have a page called “Fit Issues & Solutions” and can help pin-point somethings that you don’t like about your current bra or issues you are having in regards to fit and comfort. Usually it is an easy fix such as having the wrong size or needing an in-between half size, which THIRDLOVE carries! Women’s bodies are all SOO different and not every women is the same. Even my identical twin and I have similar bodies but are still different! I hop you guys enjoyed this post and my review of these nrusing bras! Let me know if you have any questions about my journey with feeding Kennedy, I would love to hear from you fellow mamas! XOXO
