What I’m Feeding Dane and My Top Baby Feeding Products!
In today’s post I’m talking all about meal time with baby! The best feeding products and accessories from Walmart, and what I’m currently feeding Dane!
When your baby is finally old enough to start eating purees and solids, it becomes much more fun and messy! I was so excited when Dane was old enough to start eating food and to start making him apart of our family meals. There are lots of baby products that make meal time with your baby much easier. I’m going to share what I used for Kennedy when she was a baby and what I’m using for Dane right now. I have found all these amazing baby feeding products and accessories all at Walmart! I love Walmart because they carry all the popular and best baby prodcuts, that I trust and use for Dane. They carry premium brands and high quality brands such as 4Moms, Baby Breeza, Beaba, Skip Hop, OXO, and much more!
What I’m Feeding Dane:
Dane’s main source of food and nutrition is still milk! I’ve been giving him Enfamil Gentlease Neuropro since I fully transitioned him to formula around four months old. He has been doing really great with this formula, and I love the ingredients it has compared to other formula brands. It is also gentle on his tummy and reduces gas which I love. We use this formula maker when has made making bottles SO easy! It’s basically the same concept as a coffee maker, expect it makes a perfectly mixed bottle of formula at the push of a button within seconds. I love that it also is always at the perfectly warm temperature. You can adjust the ounces from 2-10 ounces at a time. So if he is still hungry, I just push 2 more ounces and it’s ready within seconds without having to set him down or have him crying for more food. Right now, Dane has slowed down is milk intake since he started eating solids three times a day. He used to drink 25-30 ounces a day but since have three meals a day, it is now at 20-25 ounces a day. His doctor said that is okay and totally normal once they start solids. At 5 months, I started giving Dane baby oatmeal with some fruit purees mixed in. He loves his oatmeal and I switch off every morning between what fruit puree I mix in. FOr some reason he loves this Beechnut oatmeal more than other ones I’ve tried. He loves bananas, strawberries, prunes, peaches and blueberries. That is what I was only giving him at 5 months old. But since he turned 6 months, his doctor gave me the okay to start introducing more variety of food such as meats (chicken and turkey), vegetables, pasta, and more fruits. So far he has tried a variety of fruits and veggies, and chicken and turkey. I have mainly been giving him these foods in puree form! I also keep organic baby food ready and handy at home and in the diaper bag as well. Walmart carries a large selection of organic baby food to choose from, and my favorite brands are Plum Organics, Happy Baby and Beechnut! Since Dane is teething really bad right now, he is loving these gentle teething wafers. The one he loves is the banana and sweet potato flavor!
Baby Food Maker:
The days I’m not super busy with the kids, like the days Kennedy is in pre-school, I will make some baby food for Dane in the Beaba BabyCook. You can get the single one, but I love the double one as well because I can save time by making two different things at once. I prep and wash the veggies or fruit, just cut up the food, and place it in the container. It comes with a cookbook, so you can see how long you need to steam the food. For example, apples and butternut squash is 15 minutes. I will play with Dane while that is cooking, and then once it’s done, I can then blend and puree it in the Beaba too. I made most of Kennedy’s baby food when she was a baby as well. I personally think it’s fun, I know exactly what is going in his food, and it saves money too. I then store them in these silicone food freezer pods or you can store them in these containers in the fridge! FYI they usually will last only for a few days in the fridge because there are no preservatives added.
Highchair:
I have been trying to do most of Dane’s meals at home, sitting down at the table, in his high chair. I think it helps them get into the routine of mealtime and makes it a more positive experience. I did this with Kennedy too and I think it really helps them have a good association with meal time and food. My hands down favorite high chair is the 4MOMS High Chair. I love the sleek design, it is very easy to clean and wipe down, and it has a magnetic top. You can get the plates and bowl set that can magnetically stick to the top, so your baby doesn’t throw his plate off. It helps prevent unwanted spills, is dishwasher safe, and assists with self-feeding. I’ve had this high chair for three years, and it’s still in great condition. The quality is amazing and it’s the best high chair I’ve ever tried. I also love how it is heavier and more stable than others, so if your baby pulls up on it, it is hard for it to fall over on them.
Feeding Accessories:
When you start feeding solids, it’s always good to be prepared and have some products handy. Some things you will need are bibs, wipes, utensils, bowls/plates, and some patience! haha I keep these hand and face wipes in my diaper bag, in the kitchen, in the car, stroller caddy, etc. I use them ALL the time for everything from cleaning a messy face and hands, or cleaning the kid’s hands before they eat. I love that they are gentle on Dane’s sensitive face and doesn’t make his face red and irritated. I also will keep some baby washcloths downstairs in the kitchen to wipe him up if he got food all over him.
