SHOP THE POST:
In my new Home Decor series, I’m going to be sharing all the additions and home decor in our new home! This is one of the first posts in this series, and today I’m talking all about my kitchen window makeover. These are the new roman shades I recently installed in our kitchen from Willow Bloom!
When we moved into our house, which is a new construction, the windows didn’t have any window treatments or window trim. We put window treatments up right away because we literally felt like fish in a fish bowl haha. The only place in the house where I knew I wanted roman shades was our kitchen! It truly is my favorite place in our house so far, and where we spend the most time.
I spent countless hours trying to find the perfect window shade with the prettiest fabrics. Then, after seeing My Texas House’s window treatments, I discovered Willow Bloom! I instantly fell in love with all of their window treatments. There honestly is nothing that compares to the quality and beautiful aesthetic that Willow Bloom has.
I LOVE their Roman Shades and think they look amazing in kitchens and bedrooms! If you are looking for that extra something to “complete” your kitchen, then I honestly think a beautiful window treatment is the perfect touch. I highly recommend Roman Shades for several reasons. I love how they are airy and lightweight, which gives the kitchen a more homey feel. They can be open to let light in during the day and offer privacy at night when you need it. During the day I like to have them open to let the natural light in, and I love how they don’t block out much light like plantation shutters tend to do. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love plantation shutters, but they do tend to make a room darker than these types of shades. With these shades, my kitchen always looks so light and bright! When I do pull them down during the day, they keep the kitchen cool and shaded.
My husband Alex and I added window trim to the kitchen windows ourselves. I will be posting our DIY Window Trim Post soon! It was a unique situation, because we had to put our window trim over our back splash which is much trickier than doing over normal drywall. I will be sharing a step-by-step post on how we did it and what tools you will need in that post- stay tuned!
Here is the type of shade I chose from Willow Bloom:
Fabric: Organics Collection
Color: Bespoke Beige
Lining: Sheer
Cord System: Cordless
Style: Waterfall
Mount Type: Inside
I chose my Roman Shades from the Organics Collection because I was drawn to the natural, airy texture of the fabrics. It went well with the decor in my house and the modern farmhouse feel I was going for in the kitchen. They have lots of beautiful solid colors and some stripes and patterns to choose from. I think in any kitchen or house style, this collection would be a beautiful addition! Another beautiful collection I love is the Plains Collection. This collection from Willow Bloom has a variety of neutral colors and solid fabrics to choose from. Since my kitchen is mostly all white- with all white cabinets and counter-tops- I wanted to off-set it with a slight pop of grey. The Bespoke Beige is the perfect shade of grey/ beige. They match perfectly with the grey and white french bistro bar stools and grey kitchen table chairs we have. I think it all ties together beautifully and the colors go great together!
I chose the cordless system for the roman shades. At Willow Bloom, you can choose from cord lock, continuous loop or cordless. I chose cordless because I wasn’t going to be opening and closing them a ton throughout the day. So the pull down tab in the middle of the shades is hidden behind the fabric. I would recommend this system for windows that aren’t super high or where you won’t be needed to open and close them a ton. If you will be opening and closing them often, in a bedroom or bathroom perhaps, I recommend the continuous loop!
Willow Bloom has lots of different styles and fabric colors to choose from to go with any theme you want! Their staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about window treatments and their products. I loved working with Willow Bloom on my window treatments and highly recommend them to everyone!! Their quality and personal touch they add to every shade they make, makes them the best in the business!
